As someone who has always been active and involved with sports, functional fitness has always been important to me. I boxed at county level for over a decade and played football for most of my life, and after retiring from competitive sports in 1999 I trained to work as a sports therapist.
My career as a sports therapist has included working with a broad range of patients, from world class athletes and premiership football teams to office workers, retired people and parents. I qualified as an osteopath in 2016.
Around 70% of my patients are regular people with ordinary aches and pains. I apply a holistic, whole body approach to my work, addressing the cause of the injury and not just the symptoms. It’s important to explain the problem to the patient to help them to understand the injury.
